is there any adjustment you can do on rear sierra calipers on the handbrake side of things.(new recon units)
thanks.
They should self adjust on a ratchet half cam just check you have asebeled ok ant take up the slack on the adjuster near the hand brake .
NO auto self adjust thingy
Slacken off the handbrake cable adjuster them remove the bolts securing the caliper to the mounting bracket. Using the correct tool if you have one or a peg spanner and gee clamp turn the piston to reduce the amount of clearance between the pads and disc (keep putting the caliper back on to check) until you have approx 0.004" . Do this before pumpingthe brake pedal . After pumping the pedal adjust the handbrake cable . Pumping the brake pedal before setting the clearance may damage your new calipers and invalidate the warranty. Yes, people get away with it but how many have problems getting a decent brake pedal with rear discs?
First of all the handbrake be off and cable should be slacken back ---
You can adjust the pistons out by screwing them out manually but it you shouldn't need to --- all that should be required is to pump the
pedal.
Once the pistons have self adjusted you can re-tension the cable BUT don't over tension it as the self adjusters won't work if the cable is
pulling the pads on.
