Weird Handling
The Baron - 1/4/09 at 07:28 PM

I took my car out for the first time since the end of October last year, and wow the handling has gone all weird and really twitchy at any thing over 40mph.

Had a good look at it when I got home, and the suspension must have really settled over the winter as I had nearly 5 degrees of extra camber on one side that the other, and the tracking had been forced to toe out.

Any handling guru's out there, would this give me the sort of odd handling, or is there something else where? A preliminary look fond no loose bolts or worn ball joints & the tyre pressures look ok (25psi all round)

Cheers,

B

On a seven type car your tyre pressure should be around 17psi.

OK, i'll try that, they were all flat, and i had the two on the back replaced, so it could be that i have messed up with the pressures,

keep the suggestions coming....

If its been standing that long without moving I would suggest the tyres have flat spots on them as well. You should store a car off the ground if its going to stand for any length of time.

Or roll it to a new position every week or so... which is what I do.

could be the camber...i had to put a bit more on one side to sort my weirdo handling

Re-set the ride height --- checking for broken spring
Check corner weights --
Only then check camber if OK then check toe-in

Try 16 to 18 psi in the tyres..
