I have a Sierra adjustable column, a Mk2 Escort rack, and need to join the two. I also have a Mk2 Escort steering column I will not be using and
wondered if I can use the centre shaft from that to connect the Sierra column to the rack?
I have spare couplings from an Escort too (one with a UJ and one with a circular rubber joint piece).
Any help much appreciated.

You can cut the splined end off the Escort rack and weld that into the end of a suitable piece of CDS tube. Use a Group 4 UJ to couple this to the
rack rather than the crappy rubber couplings.
At the column end you can modify an early Sierra or Cortina coupling to weld onto the tube e.g. parts
SSC and CSC shown here.
The Sierra steering coupling fits the Escort rack splines. Use that.
The escort coupling won't fit the sierra triangular shaft.

Darren at GTS Tuning does a steering downlink which would do the job. Not really the locost option though.
