Bottom mount Sierra m/cyl.

I've decided to bottom mount the Sierra mastercylinder.

I really want to avoid the hassle/cost of a remote reservoir so I just want to confirm there is no problem with bleeding if I mount the standard m/c down low.

MKs seem to get away with it so it must be ok... right?

As you say james, others do it and it works,

i have been knocking this about in my head for a few days too, cant see that its the best way to do it and i would have thought that SVA would have said it was a no no, thay seem to think other "less important" issues are failure points though,

Also, it is ok to have it mounted horizontally isn't it? Obviously the fluid level will be wrong on the side of the reservoir but people haven't failed on this that I know of?!

isnt the reasoning behind it being on the pi55 so that you dont loose braking front and rear at the same time if the fluid leaks out?

would be best to make it as per the sierra if poss i would say.

'expense and hassle of remoting the reservoir' ?
I don't understand, what reservoir are you using ?
I remoted mine from my master cylinder with 15mm copper pipe connected to the m/cyl and short lengths of rubber hose from the copper to the res outlets. You don't have to get fancy with the fastenings as there is no pressure involved, only the weight of the res fluid. Just use lovely jubbely clips.

is that an SVA friendly approach, i know its not a pressurised area but its still an area not to pi55 about with.

Its not a problem a lot of cars with chassis had the mastercylinder mounted below the floor --- the last one being the Morris Minor 1000.

When bleeding brakes just do it by the book use an assistant to pump the pedal SLOWLY particularly on the return stroke. And get the assistant to hold the pedal down to the floor while you close the nipple.
