I have what I think are a second set of cortina hubs, but not 100% sure as the one calliper thats present on the hubs is different to the callipers on
my other cortina hubs. Apart from that, they look the same. So were there two types of calliper fitted to cortinas?
Or are my second set of hubs diferrent?
cheers

i believe there wer two different sorts of calipers. the standard m16 calipers, as on my website and used on escorts, capirs etc. i believe there was
another type that was used on early estates that are slightly larger and have bigger padspacce..

i saw them at stoneleigh last year, there was a stand showing recon ford calipers. i had a chat with the guy who told me what i explained in the
above..
You can also fo course you capri 2.8i calipers with vent4d discs or put a spacer in a standard m16 caliper to accomodate a vented capri disc..
Ned.
i intend to use 4 pots I think, as I intend being on the track most weekends.
Long way down the line though!
Thanks for the info

4pots = wilwood kit from rally design. you won't see change out of £4-500.
I intend doing this later. get hte car on the road and sva'd then whenmoney permits upgrade bits. also gives future fiddling when the car is
finished.
Ned.,
I did plan to do that, but to be honest, once its built I'd kinda like that to be it.
I'd like to build it to the spec I'm after from the start, and nows the time that I can browse various places for bargains.

never mind tho, ill prolly change to vented discs and four pots soon after me buid anywho.
did one of them have what I can only describe as a line of metal across the calliper? If the answer is yes you'll know what I mean.

Two types of 70s Ford caliper Girling and Teves (ATE) -- interchangeable and take the same pads but not the same seals.
Dagenham built Fords were almost 100% Girling , Ghent and and Colnge built almost 100% Teves.
strange, i didnt notice any difference in the seals when i reconned mine. one does say ate on it tho, the other must be girling.
they were also used on some other cars, mostly triumphs, i have the full list on the brake seal kit out in the shed if anyones interested.
