Build update - Jag
speedyxjs - 18/8/09 at 06:53 PM

Afew late evenings work has resulted in this:

With wheels on, it still fits... just!

I needed to add some extra foam to be sure i was over the 5mm radius (i think its actually over the 19mm radius) but i didnt realise it would show so much. Im sure it will 'fall off after IVA

Due to the lack of room in the garage she is currently being use for storage too.

Engine

My favourite picture - the two sisters.

The front is too low atm (sump 1" above ground)

she's gonna be a beast!

Dangle_kt - 18/8/09 at 07:01 PM

well done!

That looks really good - i love the wheels.

I'll be watching it progress with interest.

two questions - why are the springs so short?

Does the top ball joint need screwing out as it looks like your camber is well off which I think I'm right in saying wont be helping ground clearence.

Awesome

I recently heard that all the very best people use straight six engines.

blakep82 - 18/8/09 at 07:08 PM

i've got a straight 6 in the bmw, do i qualify?

Springs are short 'cos my dad was playing with them trying to adjust the ride height lol

The top ball joint is bolted to the hub and i dont think its adjustable. The flat tyre doesnt help the camber.

I knew the shocks wouldnt be strong wnough. The rears are actually ok but if i drop the car without the bar going across, the chassis just slowly drops to the ground.

Too long

Got the donor Feb 2007 and started the chassis not long after (that took 18 months to build!)

blakep82 - 18/8/09 at 07:47 PM

18 months is a lightning speed by my standards! well done

its going alright. very quiet, but alright. been off today and i'll be off tomorrow, so yeah been feeling a bit poor, but now i've been paid, i'm feeling a bit more up to the build if not a bit pissed off with it yesterday, but its taken about 3 times longer than yours so far and thats starting with a already built chassis
