brake promblem
Stuart_B - 22/8/09 at 02:43 PM

hi all, i tried to fit my wilwood powerlight cailpers this morning, and once the pads are in, they are soild on one pad, and the other is lose, as the disc is not center of the cailper, either the caipler needs to move 2mm in, or teh disc 2mm, out but i am not happy that i have been saving a few weeks wages to afford this brake kit, and does not fit like it should.

does anyone else have this promblem?

i will be phoning rally desings first thing monday.

but if they do nothing about it how can i get over the problem safley?

my idea was to get a 2mm thick circle cut out, and put it on teh hub before the disc, and buy longer wheel studs. would that be safe?

thanks

stuart

You could shim the rear of the disc with washers when the pads bed in remove them and the calipers will centre if that makes sense.

or shim the caliper? (i can't remember if that can work, but if it can, i'd do that rather than shimming the disc)

i have used washers, at the moment but i do not feel 100% about that.

as well can not shim the cailper it needs to go the othere way.

I had 1.5mm milled off the adapter plate where it bolts the the lugs on the hub.
