Id use a scissor type ball joint splitter if you are keeping the joints, anything else gets the fork!

Even with the scissors if you're ham-fisted you can shag the rubber boot thingy.

I tend to use it as an opportunity to fit new ball joints.

Otherwise scissors are the way forward....

You'd have to be pretty unlucky do do that lol

the thing is i know they are ok and they cost £120 a pair

Try to use 2 hammers: a 2kg hammer to hold against the body of the BJ (as some kind of counter weight. A 0,6 kg hammer to hit the other side of the BJ body. Sometimes it snaps loose.

PS: don't be too gentle

For £120, I'd carefully paint the bones by hand and powder coat them once the ball joints were shagged.

Two hammers, one held against the back of the arm where the joint taper fits, and another to hit the other side, BJ nut removed of course.

Because the joints are so small take it off the upright that the ball joint and bottomm wishbone to the bench and use a small track rod end press splitter rather than the usual press splitter or fork splitter.

Hope you are not putting spring loads through Dolomite bottom ball as they aren't up to the job --- I have seen the balls pop out on Triumphs.

You can replace the rubber boots if they are damaged - try a search on Ebay for "rubber boot"
