Suspension Crush Tube advice needed.
martinq357 - 21/9/09 at 06:02 PM

The front, top rocker arms on my Cat need new bushes (The original were the bonded rubber type and I'd rather not go back to these again as I was never happy with them) and I was contemplating using either Delrin or Polyurethane.

I'm lucky enough to have access to lathes so machining this to the correct size is not a problem, neither is finding a supplier for this material.

I am however having trouble finding out the correct grade steel and supplier for the crush tube. Any pointers, advice, help or insight to suspension assembly would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Martin.

Stainless rod bored out on your lathe will do it

Stainless tube with a 2mm to 2.5mm wall is what you need.

16x2 tube or something similar.

Don't make them too short! Might be worth doing a search on here for crush tubes?

Hi

Do some research on the inboard pivots on all the Sylvia strikers Etc over the years. You may just want to save time and trouble and go straight for needle bearings. Will be dependent on the sizes and desighn you are restricted to though.
