Sierra Driveshafts Threads.
Coopz - 21/9/09 at 09:12 PM

Quick question.. I sent my push in driveshafts to car parts direct and got the reconditioned ones sent back to me.

I went to fit them to the car the shorter one (passenger side) the hub nut tightens towards the front of the car, which I think is correct. The longer shaft (drivers side) hub nut tightens to the rear. When i thought it should tighten to the front.

Is this a problem will it be ok should I try get it changed?

Cheers

I would expect one of the threads to be a left hand thread (so it doesnt loosen as the wheel turns forward)

sounds fine to me

Clockwise thread on offside and anticlockwise on the nearside. It looks like they have put the wrong end on the offside shaft.

sierra drive shaft nuts should go tighter turning towardsthe front of the car and undo turning towards the rear of the car. simples.

mine had a left handed thread on the passenger side. this was not the "lobro" drive shaft which i think was used on the dohc engined cars?

That is correct; the nut should tighten in normal direction of rotation of the wheel.
