Polishing RS 4 spoke wheels
steve m - 22/9/09 at 06:00 PM

I have stripped all the old laquer and paint off, and now need to polish them (i love polishing things!)

I was going to stick them on the back axle and let the engine do the work, but my car is NOISEY, and dont want to upset the neighbours, see mot failure thread,

any other clever idea's on how to spin the wheels so i can polish at the same time ?
and no i do not have a Lathe!

I do have a piller drill, that is belt driven, so perhaps a long belt round the wheel (tyres or off) and mount the drill on the floor, parrallel to the wheel ??

regards

Steve

sounds fairly dangerous

The problem is.... to get a good finish you need to polish both ways..... not just axially as the wheel rotates!

There aint no substitute for elbow grease !
I always found the best results were by hand when I used to clean my RS 4 spokes up, in the front room with my mum pulling her face. I dont know why but she used to moan if I did'nt put paper down first.
