I need to replace mine due to an mot fail, never fitted these before, can any one give me a few pointers, i really have no idea how to remove the steering arm from the rack.

you shouldn't need to remove the steering arm...

i've never understood the little fitting cone they give you, but what i did, was remove the ball jointslide the new gaiter over the whole steering arm up to the body of the rack, then you need about 6 hands to stretch the gaiter over the body of the rack

Have you tried superglue on the gaiter?

Is the cone for sliding it over the balljoint?

Just make sure you mark the position of the balljoint before you remove it.

It's for stretchy boots, just like CV joints use. It means you can get the boot over the track rod end without having to remove it from the track rod and potentially mess the tracking up.

ok im not saying anyones wrong but i dont see how you could force something that small over the ball joint? is it not easier to remove the track rod end? is that just a case of unscrewing it from the threaded steering arm?

Works with CV Joints and Stretch Boots
