
Looking at the mcgill rose joints to hold my steering link in place, they dont do a 15mm one for my rally design link rod its 14 or 16mm. How have
others held them in place and does the shaft spin in the ball, or is the shaft attached to the ball somehow to spin the ball in the housing. Was
thinking of going to 18mm and making a little bush

it should be a decent close fit, but just pass the shaft throuh the ball, no need to attach it, kjust as long as it doesn't rattle side to side in there its fine
i think 16mm will be too loose then wont it? am i best turning it down to 14mm?
i think bigger, then make a bush to fit was a good idea. what do you call it? and interfence fit? so the bush is real tight in the rose joint and
won't move anywhere, and then put the shaft through the bush. might be a bit fiddly, but i think is a better idea than turning the whole shaft
down.
legends cars use a 3/4" steering shaft, and 3/4" rose joints at the top (2 of them)
actually, whats the metric equivalent of 3/4"? its not far off 15mm is it?
edit: no forget that. 15mm is 0.59" or something, so what about starting with a 1/2" rose joint, and using a tiny grinding thingy on a
dremmel to open it out slightly?

Arent they hardened? Can soon make a sleeve though, is this the norm? Thanks
not sure. i got 14mm ones from mcgill a few years back for my steering column, and they were too tight a fit, so i managed to grind them out a little to fit. but then i went for a complete change of plan, and spent £200 on a complete steering column from SHP
McGill sell a rose joint for the purpose of steering column support. its 3/4" + a few thou clearence.
15mm seems a bit small for a column...
its what rally design sell, i dont mean the actual collumn, ive got the proper sierra bush for that, its the short splined bit that needs supporting
how many UJ's have you got? if you've only got 2 it shouldn't need supporting
any photos?
Theres 3 u/j's as i couldnt get the required angle for the IVA with 2, so it does need supporting.
