I have an F27 and the steering column is rubbing on the manifold causing hurendous handling problems. What can I do to fix this.

thanks

Simon

Got any pictures? Might help those of us who don't know what an F27 is to give some ideas.

Fitting an additonal UJ (as Steve Gusterson has done) will allow you to change the angle significantly- any use?

perhaps a spacer under the engine mount to tip it up to give you a bit of clearance. Sounds like a straight steering rod from the cockpit end to the rack..

Other thing might work is to offset the engine an 25 or 40mm

second UJ works well - think Liam has something even more comprehensive.

If the engine is hitting the steering such that it affects handling, Id sort it before you die.

Hiya,

Mine runs close with a pinto but it does not touch, jacking up the engine to one side may be the simplest fix.

What is the safetest and easiest way to offset a ford pinto 2.0 sohc?

locoboy - 11/4/04 at 09:16 AM

it depends really on the type of engine mounts youe have? any piccys?

As we don't know the design of engine mountings on your car it is hard to advise.
