Ive heard this diff talked about but im not sure if i really know what it is. is it an LSD diff that is a direct replacement for a sierra diff? or is
it an LSD unit that fits into a sierra diff? if its the entire diff, does it come in different ratios? also i heard on some post that they where
making an electric backup that fit on this diff for bike powered cars, any more news on this?
thanks in advance,
Sean
Quaife make Automatic Torque Biasing diffs for quite a number of different cars. They come as a diff centre which you then install in your rear end
housing to replace the standard diff unit.
Quaiffe also make a dedicated "transaxle" for BECs which incorporates an (Fiesta, I believe, complete with its tripod outputs) ATB diff. The
"transaxle" has a mechanical reverse built into it.

Mechanical reverse in the diff? meaning you can go 100mph in reverse, cool.
Yes for every forward gear there is a reverse gear. Quiafe diffs are excellent, I paid $800 US for the one in my Focus, works like a charm too.
The quaife ATB diff is their version of a torsen innit?

Yes, it's fair to say the ATB is their version of the Torsen, but a Torsen diff is a different beastie and by far the superior.
Unfortunately, the vehicle fitment list for the Torsen isn't as broad as for the ATB. Also, the only method of securing a Torsen is by removing
one from an existing car.
They can make the ultimate rear end for a BEC. I've re-housed a few of them.
As far as I know, Torsen aren't supplying their diffs at present. I'm probably wrong about that and someone will put me straight.
