Is there any IVA safe way to connect handbrake cables when they have been cut?
I have spent ages trying to disconnect mine properly but without luck
hiya, I went to the IVA centre in Norwich to ask the same question and showed them the cable clamps I'd already bought in image below (those on
the right supplied by MK). They said either clamp type are acceptable for IVA provided that when the handbrake is tested the clamps don't
slip.
I decided to use the MK clamps on my sierra handbrake cable in the end.

They cut the the cable (Cortina) to length and crimped on a new nipple. IMO much better way than trying to do it home bearing in mind the work the
cable needs to do, and it looks very neat.
I used the cable clamps and there was no problem but I understand that some SVA / IVA testers aren't so happy with them.... I guess it still depends on the interpretation of the rules.
Slip Nicopress sleeve on Cable, divide cable in two, make Eye flemish with SS Thimble, slide Nicopress next to Thimble, Press with Special tool
(expensive) or Vise Grip pliers or Vise (locost)
Repeat other end.
Nicopress is just a trademark, you can get them with Sips Chandlers.
No, No the hijacked ones!!!

I used a mecanno item (looks like those provided by MK in pic above) honestly wasnt expecting it to hold.... seems perfect, even when being silly with the handbrake testing it it held up a treat cost me 50P off ebay for 4 of them.
