Ford Zetec SE head bolts
Madinventions - 10/1/10 at 11:39 AM

I've checked the compression on my Zetec SE 1600 and I've got poor valve seals on cylinders 1 and 4 (probably due to long storage before I got my hands on it). So I need to take the head off and lap the valves, and I plan to do some rebuilding while it's all in bits.

Question: What socket do I need to get the head bolts off? Looking at several head bolt kits online, they seem to contain the following types:
M12 (Ribe)
M14 (Security Spline)
M12 (Ribe)
E12 (TRX-Star* Socket)
T60H (Security TRX-Star*)
M10 (Spline)
10mm (Hex)
M10 (Ribe)

Never heard of many of these so I'd like to make sure I get the right one!

Cheers,
Ed.

Also, has anyone ever used a Reisse head rebuild kit like this?

M12 or M10 spline i think.

Best bet is to whip the cam cover off and have a look then youl be sure. Fords themselves arnt that bad price for head bolts etc. Gammers should be able to sort you out and thyel do a bit of a discount if you ask.

i can sort you out genuine ford parts if you want, i would allways use them over other items, by the way you can reuse the head bolts once on these engines

Thanks for you help guys.
I've got the cam cover off and they look like Torx sockets to me as their's only 6 points to them, so I'll 'borrow' a set of bits from work tomorrow and see if they fit.
