Hi,
im trying to work out the ratio on my axle!it was off a mark 5 cortina estate!
would anybody know what ratio this is?
or he worst comes to it,how to work it out?
cheers in advance
Aaron
according to haynes:
1600 saloon, standard - 3.89:1
1600 saloon option and estate car 4.11:1
2000 all variants - 3.75:1
or
if you push the car on flat level ground (so both back wheels turn the exact same amount), you count the number of turns of the prop shaft for one
full turn of the wheels.
the result is then (prop shaft turns):1
for a definite answer (but involves a little bit more messy work) take the back cover off. the ratio was written on the crown wheel on my atlas
(capri) diff
