How did people do their handbrake cables??? Ive got the cables and the tubes they go through fromt the sierra(and if they dont work then il use the
mr2 ones). Its just that the cables are too long!!!! what should i do to shorten them and then attach them to the ends?? Also at the end of the cable,
where the lead nugget should be, there is no lead nugget. What should i do there? I was gonna cut then and then use a linkage connector like you used
to see in mecano sets to put two shafts end on end but this wont be strong enough.
What should i do?
i too was wondering how to joint the two ends of the cable i cut... best idea so far was a bolt with a hole drilled thru, to clamp them both in.
no idea about your problem though.
I went to a DIY shop. Go to the bit where they have rope and chain, and you should see some little U clamp thingys used for cable cleats etc for steel
wire.
Cut your cable, and run approx 150mm or so parallel (sp?) and use 4 - 6 clips tightened up well along that length.
Worked well for me and I have seen other use that approach too.

Hi guys,
I have cut the cable and rejoined it using a drilled nut and bolt.
Have a look on my site in the build diary for a photo.

Works very well.
buy the mains cable joining blocks and use them. the 45amp ones are bigger (cooker cable size jobbies) you can cut the plastic surround off to reveal
the metal bits where you screw in to secure the cable. A block of these is cheap as chips and you can use a couple in line if you're worried
about them holding the cable securely enough.
