hi all, 1st post so pls bear with me.
have just bought a half built locost with a fair bit to do, looks book to me - cortina uprights, 1300 x/flow, escort rear axle etc. the only thing is,
the seller has left the country and i have been left with precious few details. need to get a load of stuff at stoneleigh this weekend but don't
have big rons book and can't get it in time - so i am not sure exactly what i need.
1) i believe i have sierra discs, the current ones are knackered tho. they measure approx 240mm diameter, 12mm thickness, i don't know the offset
to any accuracy. is there a part number for these or a list that i can look through?
2) i will need new pads too, but don't know what calipers i have, they have 1 pot on the inboard and 1 on the outboard side, i'm guessing
cortina as they fit on the cortina uprights?
3) i need some coil-overs for the rear suspension. what spring rates / damping rates should i be looking for?
sorry for all the questions, i have looked through all the previous posts but if i have missed something, would be most grateful if you could point me
in the right direction.
thanks in advance
if they are cortina hubs odds are they are cortina discs do they mount behind the hubs or infront?
probably got girling m16 calipers
most of the bits you are looking for can be got from dozracing on this forum his website is http://www.gtscougar.freeserve.co.uk
and i think he will be at the show
thanks. i think the seller said they were sierra hubs, but would sierra hubs fit onto cortina uprights? the disk bolts onto the inboard side of the hubs.
Skinny,
If the discs are solid and 12mm then they sound like Cortina. The Sierra ones are vented and are much thicker.
The spring rates you want depend on the engine weight etc. Darren sells some of them too at a reasonable price.
HTH,
James
yeah, i had a quick look for sierra discs, all i could find was like xr4 discs etc, but most were vented and so much thicker. sounds like cortina
discs then - many thanks.
re shocks, unfortunately i don't have 2 bathroom scales to see what weight is over the back wheels, and i need to put a fuel tank and seats in
yet (and myself!) so am not sure how much it will weigh, guess i could some adjustables based on a ball park figure tho.
just off to check out darrens site, many thanks
