Problem with Brakes
Davey D - 6/3/10 at 08:59 PM

A few weeks ago i fitted new pads, and discs to the front end my wifes K11 micra. The job was un eventful, and was a piece of cake. the pistons pushed back in easily, and the discs came off the hubs fine.

She had the car MOT'd and it passed fine, and drove it about 2 weeks with no problems.

Now all of a sudden the o/s caliper sticks when driving. I took the brakes off to see what the problem was. the caliper pushes back in fine, i pumped it out with the pedal, then pushed it back in again with my clamp several times with no problems, yet it would still bind after applying the brakes, so next up i bled that caliper, and there was some air in the line. tried the brakes, and it was cured.

My wife has been using the car for a week with no issues, but come to use the car tonight, and the brake is sticking again

Anyone any ides what it could be?

Brake hose perished inside and acting like a one way valve id say.

Could be drawing air in i guess. Try another bleed and see if there is air in there again

Rear shoes badly worn or the rear self adjuster(s) failed

Piston seal/dust boot worn or perished?

It could be the slider sticking when the piston pushes against the disk. Use proper grease not Copaslip on the slides, it dries out and sticks inside the rubbers.
