Ford handbrake cable to Jag hub
speedyxjs - 21/3/10 at 06:59 PM

This may not make much sense without piccys but il have a go.

The Jag hubs that i am using use a clevis pin arrangement to connect the handbrake cable to the handbrake mechanism. Due to the age of the cable/mechanism, the handbrake cable had to be cut off the car and the pin on the clevis arrangement had to be drilled out to remove the cable.

The problem i have now is that the jab handbrake cable is almost impossible to find and fairly expensive (£20 - £30 per cable!) and the pin isnt made any more.

Now i have an escort handbrake cable (same end as sierra) and what i would like to know is if it would be ok if i put the nipple at the end of the cable through the hole on the handbrake mechanism and secured it with an R clip?

Id love to but the cable is fixed to the clevis and the clevis is muuuuuch smaller than that.

i paid £47 for my sierra hanbrake cable, standard length

so the £20 to £30 is not that bad

Its £20 to £30 per cable. Two rear cables and one to connect to the handbrake.

those allegro cables look good. Any idea what i could use in place of the pin?

Get another pin or a nut and bolt.
