Sierra half shaft lengths
plentywahalla - 22/3/10 at 07:40 PM

Does anybody know the lengths of standard sierra half shafts (drive shafts) with 108mm bolt on flanges?

I am building up my De Dion rear axle and have a Sierra Cosworth 7.5 diff which I have mounted offset so that the flanges are equidistant from the chassis rails. The chassis I have made to the standard 42" width which makes the flanges 382mm from the outside rails each side.

I know that using a standard Sierra set up leaves the rear track much wider than the front which I am trying to minimise.

In order to avoid having to cut and shut the half shafts is it possible to use two of the left hand (i.e.shorter) shafts? If so what length are they?

I am trying to keep to all new parts (with the exception of the engine) for a new vehicle reg. So I need to know Ford or pattern part numbers or the exact source vehicle spec.

Hello,

The short sierra driveshaft (just the shaft itself with no joints) is 480mm, tip to tip.

If you need new, you could try www.reco-prop.com who are based in Luton.

Cheers,
Tris

You mean with standard Locost 'book' wishbones?

Why not just make the front wishbones 2" longer?
