
I have some play in my steering column upper bearings/bushes, anyone know where i can get these from?
Ebay only turns up shedloads of the lower nylon ones
you talking about the one that goes round the triangular shaft?
i have a proper metal bearing for that,yours for £10 inc post...u2u me if yr interested
The top bearing hardly ever wore on the sierras. Have you got all the bits in the top bearing. You should have the bearing, then a tin shim ring
thingy that fits around the shaft and the a plastic bush thats pressed down onto the bearing/shim by the steering wheel. The plastic bush also acts as
the indicator canceller and people have been known not to fit it thinking it wasn't needed.
You also have to have the spring that fits between the bottom column tube bearing and the fixed ring on the shaft.
If all that is ok then it's the plastic bottom bush thats worn.

At the steering wheel end, i think it may be triangular but i havn't taken it apart yet, it's all part of the collapsible section and alloy
steering boss.
I'm not sure all the bits are there until i dismantle it, but the nylon bush is still there although i don't need it as i don't have an
indicator stalk, i machined the alloy boss to install the paddle shift kit, but i did it this way to retain all the standard shims etc...
Are the metal shims/spings available off the shelf or would i be better just buying another column

The actual column itself with the collapsible section has ball races, it's most unlikely these have worn. They should be lightly preloaded with a spring, but if the spacer that sits behind the steering wheel is missing (part of the indicator self cancel) it will be very loose indeed.
