Mintex M1144 pads are over Wilwood Smart Pads!
So much better even when they aren't bedded in properly...
Best £50 spent at Stoneleigh
Powerlite calipers i presume?
next item on the shopping list. Was not sure that it was worth swapping with so much life left in the smart pads BUT they are Cr*p.
Paul
ps - Thanks for the Fuel rails.
Yep, powerlite calipers.
The smart pads performed about the same as the standard cortina calipers with decent pads but the M1144's are so much better

Can I ask you from witch company you bought them, and or the mintex ref nr
Thanks
The cortina calipers had mintex pads, cant remember which spec though.
They are available from Rally Design
Clicky
i now see they do them for the Midilites
I said this along time ago, you have brakes with 1144's compared with the utter sh*t wilwood pads are. Rally Design even admit wilwood pads are cr*p and I still saw them for sale at Stoneleigh.
Do you know what compound you had in the "shite" wilwood pads? If you look at the graphs on their site you'll see a massive difference
in performance, even across the 3 different smart pad compounds.
Saying wilwood pads are no good is too much of a general term. You need to mention the pad compound as well.
BP10 smart pads.
Yes, they are rubbish.
Look at page 4 here: http://www.wilwood.com/PDF/Flyers/fl227.pdf
BP-30 or Compound A is where it's at. If anybody could find this kind of data for the mintex pad range or any other manufacturer I'd be
interested in seeing it.
Does anybody run compound A or BP-30? I predict these will blow the Mintex pads away.
I've tried:
(All my comments refer ro trackday use)
Wilwoods Smart, as has been said, poo!
Wilwoods Poly E, I rated highly.
Wilwoods Poly A Good, but a bit grabby, probably requiring more heat than I was putting into them.
Mintex 1144, probably a good road pad, but not up to trackday work.
So, I was going to try the Poly As again, but discovered Mintex now do the Powerlite pads in 1155 compound. Have fitted a set and they'll get a
trial at Oulton next Tuesday.

I have had Mintex 1144 since the Fozzmobile was built.
We put Ferodo DS2500 on the VXT and boy o boy they were good
During the winter upgrades I got some of the Ferodo DS2500 for the Fozzmobile, just 'to see' and very very good they are too.......
Although to be fair they are really a track pad.
The Mintex 1144 are brill for the road/fast road .... and a pad I would always recommend.

Interesting. What Smart Pad did you use, I'll assume the BP10. Did you look at the Wilwood PDF? The BP30 is by far the best Smartpad but Poly A looks far and away their best pad.

I Have DS2500 all round on the Leon and they are indeed very good on the tintop.
If the Poly A are indeed better than M1144 then thats a good reference.
for what its worth, I just automatically use mintex 1144 pads on road stuff now, can't beat em for road use.
