I've tracked the play in the steering down to the track rod ends. They dont appear to be a tight fit in the cortina upright when the nut it done up tight... :S

I think the TREs are RS2000 ones from Rally Design, is there more than one type of taper?

Yes there is more than one type and the RS2000 are the wrong ones.

You need normal mk2 escort track rod ends.

Mk1 and RS2000 were different tapers.

Yes, I fell into the same trap with the TRE's from Rally Design, even though I bought them at the same time as some aluminium Cortina hubs.

Why don't they sell both types?
