I've just been out for a quick 30 / 40 mile blat round my version of the Zilering.

Once again I have a mystery fluid leak in the drivers footwell.

There is no coolant nearby, so it's either the clutch master cylinder or the brake master cylinder. And as they both use the same fluid, I've no way of being able to tell which one is leaking.

The levels in both reservoirs look OK, but obviously a little fluid goes a long way across a flat ally floor.

I can't recreate the leak when it's parked up. I can stand on the brake pedal and it's rock solid, no slow movement over time.

The clutch operates perfectly too.

Any ideas?

I tried moving my feet around the footwell and having a look in there while on the move, but that is probably trickier than Alonso's F Duct.

wrap a rag round the plungers to catch any fluid, then you can see where its from...

Only thing I can think of is to sit in the car (parked up) and sit there for ten minutes jumping up and down on the brake pedal (ie don't use the clutch). If the fluid comes out then it's the brake If there's no fluid try jumping up and down on the clutch for a few minutes and see if that makes the mess...

A1's idea sounds good even a bit of toilet paper or kitchen roll would be an idicator.

Thinking ouside the box as it were perhaps on a spirited run you are getting too excited and wetting yourself???

I don't think it's related to my level of excitement!

I'll try the bits of rag approach, if I can be confident they won't get caught up and leave me with no brakes!

Use different colour fluids, or add a dye to the clutch.

what about masking tape?

Pull back the outer dust rubbers and have a look if you have a leaking seal it should be obvious.

However it is more likely just over filling of the brake master cylinder venting due to thermal expansion, as fluid leaks from seals tent to occur when the vehicle is parked up not when the brake or clutch is in use.

If it was brakes I'd expect a spongy pedal, clutches quite often leak a little bit with no moticeable affect on operation as long as kept topped up.
