MNR/Quaife reverse box mounting
sdh2903 - 7/7/10 at 06:58 PM

I'm going to be starting a few chassis mods later this week to accomodate an R1 engine. I'm also wanting to make the mounts for the MNR reverse box (i dont have the unit yet).

Just wondered how everyone mounts them? Are they just bolted to a plate/bracket which is welded directly to the chassis? do they need to be shock mounted with rubber bushings etc? I have emailed MNR but just thought I would pick the brains on here as well while I'm waiting for a reply.

cheers
Steve

Hi Steve

Bolts directly to a steel plate welded to chassis. No rubber mountings. 4 bolts.

As above, make sure its very well mounted though, I used a 8mm alloy plate on mine so steel would need to be about 4 mm. Just 4 bolts through it into the bottom of the box(quiafe and mnr share the same mounts).

with the bike engine make sure you buy TRT props as they act like cush drive rubbers helping to protect the bike gearbox and reverse box.

That great, already enquired with bailey morris about trt props once ive got the box and engine mounted.

Will stick some thick plate on my steel stockholder shopping list for tomorrow!
