Can anyone suggest any reason why my front hub is sticking?
When I first got it the bearing sounded like it was going so I have replaced the bearings and races, as per the Haynes manual. Dust shield, bearing
and race, the other bearing and race and then a large washer with the hub nut on the back. The manual says 320 to 350Nm but when I get it just tight
by hand the hub is stiff to turn.
I've had it apart again and packed it with grease again but it's still stiff to turn and not as free as the other one.
One thing I did notice is that on the hub shaft there is a slight ridge at the edge of one of the bearings but I can't see how that would affect
it.
Any ideas?
Think they are meant to be that stiff at first and will loosen up over a few miles, dont be tempted not to tighten them up to the correct torque!

Ah right. So you reckon I should do it up and give it another go now I've repacked it and everything then?
yes mate, then I would take it round the block, not far, and then check it again if getting very hot!

is it turning freely for part of the turn then going stiff at a point or is it just not turning freely?
Just not freely. It doesn't take a big effort to turn just more stiff than the other.
that should run in after a little drive. fit the wheels then give it a spin.
Cheers mate. I'll give it a go then.
