steering rack

I am thinking of upgrading my buggy steering rack, the rack I have is really short/narrow in size and the input shaft is dead in the centre, any ideas on what else is similar?

Why are you looking to upgrade, weight, excess play, cosmetics?

Just intrested!

I'm fitting a busa, I want everything to cope with it!! maybe I can keep the origional including the column, upgrading hubs etc will be the biggest challenge!

doubt the rack you have will be any problem with a busa engine.
if its off a road car, it'll be more than up to the job!

in answer though, i think small fiats have a similar rack, chinquchento (don't know what happened to the spelling of that!) or the sichento (or that...) you know the ones i mean!

Single Seater?

Mine - Rack
Rack

My single seater has a Fiat Cinquecento steering rack. The Seicento is the same. The rack is short but the pinion is offset from the centre by about 90mm (from memory). A pair of universal joints on a lower steering column would sort that out.

If the rack is hard to find, you could try extending the steering arms 20%, that will give you a 20% quicker rack action and a 20% increase in steering effort, or...... something like this,
