what alternator can i use for charging my battery standard one aint working where am i going wrong it got big thick red wire and three smaller one red blue and grey can any one help me wont charge baterry

Newer ford stuff is ecu driven and has a smart charge features to cut load and there for emmisions at idle ect.

It should provide full charge with just the large red wire going direct to battery.

I'd change it for a smaller simplier one, look at the bottom of this Link looks too complicated to me.
