I bought a tank from PTM quite a few months ago, i put it in the car the other month, and now i have noticed that there is a split in the top joint
and also there seems to be fuel leaking from the bottom of the tank. It is not a steady leak just a few drops. The petrol is quite brown though and
the fuel in the filter is quite brown too.
Any ideas what is causing the fuel to be brown, and where i can get the tank sealed up again?
Thanks
have you asked PTM about it?
Brown fuel, usually means that the tank is rusting, I know the title says plastic tank, but is there any metal in there that could be rusting? Is the fuel system returnning, if it is could rust be carried back into the tank? How much dirt could be in the tank? Did they use a new sealant to seal the inside of the tank?
or considerably....
I emailed PTM before i posted, but i wasnt sure if he was still doing the plastic tanks now, as i think MK use metal ones now. Wondered if anyone knew
why the fuel had gone brown.
Maybe considerably will know....
plasticisor or pigment leaching out?
Anyone know what plastic they are made of ?
