You need to mount them above the top rail and then shorten them to fit your feet.

MANY THANKS FOR COMING BACK SO FAST
DO YOU NOT MEAN LENGTHEN TO SUIT THE FEET?

RichardK - 23/8/10 at 09:57 PM

I had to lengthen mine on my first attempt but didn't like the driving position so made some floor mounted jobbies.

Cheers

Rich

BTW mate, writing in caps is like shouting

Take your point no shouting too late at night but yes i think i might have to do that way and make floor mounted ones
thanks for the info

buy or make a set of floor mounted pedals they take up less space

Made my floor mounted pedals from large casters but take the wheel out, you are then left with a nice strong u shaped brackets!

Loads of pictures in my gallery, link below...

Don't know if you have been for IVA yet, but using bolts for the brake pedal and clevis pivots is frowned upon

What else would you use ? My pedals pivot on collars held to brackets with bolts.

daviep - 24/8/10 at 08:26 AM

Depends on whether it is a bolt or set screw, if you use a bolt with a plain shank the correct length to go all the way through the bracket there is no problem.

I wouldn't use a set screw.

I assumed it would be a bolt, never occured to me that someone would use a machine screw. Never the less, I know someone who failed SVA on that. Tester wanted a securing method such as a split pin rather than a nut.

Maybe varies from one tester to another.

Did the sva thing back in 2008, they are 12 ton bolts, double nut'd and marked with red paint.

No problems at sva at all but dont know about current regs.

That's a stroke of genius, nice bit of lateral thinking
