Tear in balljoint boot
JekRankin - 24/8/10 at 07:53 AM

Hi,

Whilst assembling my Fury's front suspension, I managed to make a tiny tear in the lower balljoint boot (approx 5mm long).

Is the part now a write off or can it be patched, with for example a blob of sikaflex? Would seem a shame to bin a brand new part!

Don't think you'll get it through IVA like that. The joint will be fine (for a while) but they don't like splits.
Never had any success re-sealing them. You used to be able to get new boots for them but I stopped looking as it was rarely posible to get them to stay on (corroded old joints) and new joints are cheaper than the time spent relacing the boot.

You can get new rubber boots of eBay for penny's
Don't throw the part away unless it has been dry for a long time
