Recommend me a master cyl
omega 24 v6 - 28/8/10 at 09:14 PM

as the title I need more "feel to the brake pedal and so am on the hunt for a replacement.
On here the search throws up a few but here's the rub
I need one with a 19mm bore. Preferably a remote reservoir ( new one from raldes?) and it needs 10x1mm threads. I have a sierra m/cyl at the moment with a mk4 escort pressure valve in the rear line and would like to keep this balance.

I went Sierra master cyl to a Fiat item
Only had to make up one new line (only because I ditched the Fiat bias doo dah on the bulkhead as I got sick of replacing them on an anuual basis due tio them going leaky and failing the MOT)

Unions are the same thread
M/C was cheap as chips on eBay and is for a remote res- which I nicked form a Daihatsu Hi Jet
Only non straight forward bit was turning the take offs for the M/C to remote res and finding suitable tube to connect the two

Transformed the braking feel for the better and the balance is just fine

Will try and find my original posting as I think I gave part numbers etc

Rob

You say that you want more 'feel' but you specify a 19mm bore. Is that larger or smaller than your current one?
I would go for a Girling 0.75" but that seems rather large for brakes - what size are your slave cylinders?

*edit* Just re-read your post and you are using it for both front & rear circuits - doh!

I went from a sierra cylinder to a golf mk1 item - haven't driven it on the road again yet but all signs are good!

Isn't 19mm biggger than you have now? That will give less feel/harder pedal.
For more feel the common change is from a Sierra master cyl' to an early non-servo Fiesta one.

I thought sierra master cyl was 22mm dia??
So 19 is what I'd decided to go for.
Are the fiat ones 10 x1mm threads for the brake lines??

If you mean the fiat 124 M/C then no the threads aren't M10 x 1.00. Pretty sure they are M10 x 1.25, i've got one on mine but obviously havent used it yet.

Could be, never measured one. Just assumed it was smaller (you know what they say about assumption).
