Rear panhard mount ?
Jon Ison - 1/9/10 at 02:58 PM

Got all the rear off at moment (that's why the suns out) to do a few repairs, new back panel re Oulton park, anyhow panhard mount.

Whilst all my back end is exposed is it worth raising the panhard anchor mount to bring the rod levelish when the cars sat on the ground ? Now is the perfect time to do it if its a worth while mod ?

Personally I think yes but the are probably those that say no and some may say does it really matter.

Hi Jon.

It certinaly is worth doing. However it doesn't want to be perfectly level. You want it so that when the car is set a the correct ride height with driver on board the rod is say 0.5 degree down hill to the axle. This will give the least amount of scrub during bump travel of the suspension. If your running a soft compliant setup make adjustment to the angle to suit. Relatively straight forward with a bit of simulation and a spare body in the drivers seat.

Cheers Matt

Thanks Matt, was hoping you would respond.

eta,

just had a quick look, currently the bracket is flat to chassis, to get the angle quoted above I'm looking at raining it 2-3" is this the norm ? Will need to fabricate a decent mount for it.
