Which front brakes should i go for?
PuppiesBalls - 2/9/10 at 12:33 PM

Hi gents, Ive gone for the RD ally uprights which are suited to the Wilwood Powerlite 4-Pot's

I now just need to decide which type & size brakes im going to run on the front,
I will be using the car on the track so the'll be worked quite hard, The car will weigh around 700kgs.

Would I need vented discs or could I get away with solid discs which would keep the weight down.

Im thinking about going for the Powerlite - 265mm Solid Kit from Rally Design which is just over £300 pound,
Do you think the'll be man enough?

Im running the 250mm sierra non-vented discs on the back

Thanks

I've got the powerlite setup with solid discs/groves

i'd also reccomend the mintex pads rather than the smart pads, as they have much better initial bite.

As above i have the same set up works great.

I've got the same setup but with vented discs - they never get warm enough and would swap for solid discs given half a chance.

Whatever you do DON'T get the Smart pads as they will scare the crap out of you - Mintex all the way

i had smart pads but they may aswell have been blocks of wood.

mintex 1144's are good but have a tendency to squeal. well they did on my car

now using yellow stuff, no squeal and initial bite not quite so good but much better on the edge.
