Mintex brake pads
piddy - 3/9/10 at 01:49 PM

Those of you using Mintex brake pads
What part numbers should I be asking for?
The front are 240mm vented from a 2.0 ltr sierra.
The rear are non vented discs from again a sierra.

I don't want to order the wrong ones and have to send them back.

If you can get them for Sierra brakes go for 1144's!

Burton list 1144 as MDB1175 @£51.50 for 240mm disc.

Mintex have a big web site with a catalogue section you can search

Be careful buying Mintex pads. I'm not saying they are bad, quite the opposite, but they had a change of factory, and they had 'some confusion with setting up the new machinery', (Mintex guys words), resulting in a lot of pads being machined with thinner than normal friction material on the steel back plates.

I know RD had some like this for the Wilwood calipers, and there are a lot more similar out there.

The more expensive Wilwoods have better friction characteristics anyway, but may have to be ordered in. And remember, there are a number of different types of 'SMART' pads. RD don't let you know this, and only sell what is most popular, but not necessarily the best for stopping power.

Cheers,
Nev.
