do i need to seal the threads on my brake pipe t-pieces etc or just tighten them up as they are?
if i do need to seal them what do i use? will it be somesort of ptfe tape?
cheers. dan!
Should not need to seal pipes just need to make sure you have good flares on the pipes.
But if you want to seal pipes you would need something like this.
http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8874&frostProductName=Brake and Pipe Seal
(75ml)&catID=&frostCat=&frostSubCat=&subCatID=
Would not use PTFE tape as not sure it would resist brake fluid and could get into the pipework.
YOu should just be able to tighten them up. I've never had to use anything to seal them.
The pipe flare should seal directly against the taper in the fitting. If it doesn't seal then there's a problem with the flare. Don't
use any sealant or PTFE as, (a) it shouldn't be needed, (b) if any gets into the system it could cause problems(someone will be along soon to say
they have and had no problems) .
