Wheel cylinder question
Thinking about it - 20/9/10 at 08:49 PM

I have just bought replacement wheel cylinders for my 9" Sierra drums. I have just noticed I have 20.6mm as the repacements and the originals were 22.2mm. As the car will be somewhat lighter than a Sierra and I will have a balace bar. Will it matter any?

I don't think it will make any difference. If anything it will mean you will have a bit more bias towards the front (depending on your front caliper choice of course)which you can probably cancel out using the bias bar.

are you sure you have 9" replacements?

check the fitting into the backplate. one's round, the other's oval. can't remember which is which though

i've got 8" drums and was given the wrong ones to start with

ETA - 9inch has an oval boss. see my photo archive for exploded pic

They are the ones for the oval fitting. You can get both cylinder sizes in this fitting.
I was under the impression the smaller bore was the round fitting but its not always the case.
