After finally fixing the leaking sump and snapped suspension, all the bit are back together. Except now the speedo cable snags inside its protector. Tried for hours to get a good enough angle. Finally decided I need one of those 90 degree adapters. Anyone got any idea where to get one from for an escort 4 speed box.
Try Europa Specialist Spares on 01283 815609 . my catalogue is 2 years old so price of £54.00 plus V.A.T. is probably out of date. Seems a bit dear to me . May also be worth trying Speedy cables in Swansea. Hope this helps Rusty.
Yep still at £54, too expensive for me. Will try speedy cables or grinder to bracket, that's in the way.
Let us know how you get on, i'd love one for my type 9. Just refuse to spend 54 quid as it would cost more than the gearbox!
bit of a hijack i know but here we go,
Does anyone know if SW speedo clocks have a metal square socket to accept the end of the cable or is it plastic nylon or such like.
I had a few problems with my speedo fluctuating and now its not operating at all. im not just being lazy and asking rather than lookin for my self its
just that my dash is a right shitbag to get out and back in again.
My thinking is that i did not have the cable fully home in the clock socket and it has rounded the plastic (if it is) socket and may have rendered it
useless.
Any advice or info appreciated.
In the end chopped off the gearbox end of the cable, attached some airline and clipped with a p-clip to keep in place.
Works a treat and doesn't rub like the proper casing.
