What imperial bolt (1/2"
type should I use on my suspension and uprights. UNC, UNF, etc. or does it not matter?
I don't think there are any hard and fast rules but for me, UNF would be the way to go
Most motor manufacturers still use fine threadded fixings for suspension components so I guess there must be a valid reason as to why
ive used unf.
What bore are your bushes?
If you think of a thread as a rolled up wedge, UNF being finer than UNC has a more gradual ramp, and therefore for the same torque, exerts a greater
clamping force than a UNC.
UNC is generally used in ally castings etc, as teh coarse thread is more resillient to stripping the soft alloy, if you look at an old imperal
manifold, the studs are unc into the alloy, and unf for the bolt.

Thanks for the info guys. It looks like I'll have to get some UNF bolts.
