Ive just got my self a set of Wilwood powerlite calipers and also have the wilwood integrated master cylinders, Can anybody recomend what brake fluid
to use for road & occasional track use?
Also what pads should I go for, the brakes are the powerlite calipers coupled with 265mm solid (non vented) discs, The car will be primarily used on
the road so need to be okay from cold
the car will weight about 700kgs
Thanks gents!
Providing the system hasn't been used with mineral fluid previously I'd go for silicone such as Automec DOT5 - higher boiling point and not
as hydroscopic.
Bought mine on-line direct from Automec, but BGC Motorsport is always helpful or Merlin stock it.
On 650kg car my brakes improved enormously (hot or cold) over standard by using Green Stuff pads - haven't managed to fade them yet.
HTH.

Mintex 1144 are the best by far IMO and DOT5.1 fluid has the highest boiling point @270 deg C. It also compatible with DOT 3 & 4 systems and less
aggressive to paintwork.

I'm sure any pads will be ok as long as it's not the smart pads! i went for mintex, nice feel to them and have done a couple of
trackdays
Cheers chaps, Any idea how much i'll need to fill it up?
Im running standard sierra rear calipers, will they should be compatible with the Dot5 brake fluid?
Would this be good to use on my hydraulic clutch too?

There going to be re-built with all new gaskets before theyre fitted
Oh... is Automet dot 5 not the same as 5.1?

Google cleared that misunderstanding

About a litre should do it but it depends on how much air you find when you start bleeding it

I initially had the Wilwood smart pads but swaped to Mintex1144 which are far better.
I'd say go with 5.1 fluid as it's compatible with dot 3 or 4 should you ever need to (on tour somewhere with nothing else available) though
to be honest I just used dot4, as I had loads. Never had a problem either on track or gunning down the alps.
Awesome, Thanks gents!
