Hi All,

Does anyone know the largest width tyre that can be sensibly/safely fitted to a 7 1/2 J alloy wheel.

The tyres that come off had perished and were a little 'stretched' on the rim (FYI - 205 40 R17)

Anyone care to offer advice or a link to a fitment chart?

do you have a brand/model of tyre in mind ?


for example a toyo 888R 205/40 R17 would be spot for a 7.5" rim as would a 225/45 R17
