hi guys can you pls help with this building a locost got the sapphire dohc injection unit to high for the bonnet could you pls edvice on what kind of
carb i can use to gain some room to fit the bonnet, cheers Alex
So is it the fuel rail thats too high for the bonnet?
ill try to explane this propely the injection unit fitted to the engine in a angle that raising above the engine block, hope that helps, cheers
Picture would help
Hi sorry i could not load the photo but i managed to email it to you if thats ok ? sorry
Is it the engine pictured below? If so I would do a "cut and shut" operation to lower the plenum. I've seen it done on an injected
Pinto engine. The DOHC can't be much different.
Bike carbs might be an alternative I suppose. You might contact Bogg Bros and enquire.

yed thats the one, cheers nice one.
Understand now.
As said bike carbs are one way to go, the other being Weber or Dellorto.
Bike carbs are a fair bit cheaper to buy but you'll need a manifold to go with them, around £300 from Bogg Brothers (that's what I paid).
If you bide your time on eBay you could maybe pick up a pair of second hand Dellorto 40s and a manifold for £250, I did when I had the Crossflow

thanks for your time ill shop arround.
Does anyone make a Weber manifold for the DOHC engine?
If I was at the engine install stage I would seriously consider a diffrent engine as the DOHC engine is a heavy unit and no much in the way of tuning a 2 litre pinto would give a bigger power output
And a Zetec can be picked up for as low as £50 although you still have to spend the money on the carbs etc. you do get a better engine
if i get the zetec engine will the t75 gear box bolt straight on? thanks
Yep.
There is nothing wrong with the twink IF you you can make all the bits to install it your self. If you want of the shelf parts get a zetec you wont be
disapointed.
cheers, that a nice looking set up there.
There is a carb variant of the twin cam, uses an odd ford/weber carb, I had one and was going to use it in an MGB, but to be honest, including buying
a zetec it was cheaper than doing anything useful with the twin cam.
Less than £200 will buy you a Zetec bike carb manifold from boggs, and as there is no coolant to worry about in the manifold making your own is dead
easy, just don't weld the runners on the wrong side of the manifold flange like I did......
