I've replaced the suspension arms on my Suzuki Cappuccino with reconditioned ones fitted with Suzuki Sport bushes. This included replacing the
hub and upright as the upright has bushes fitted too. The handling has improved noticeably but there is a strange rear end noise. It sounds as if
all the carpets and soundproofing has been removed and all the panels are vibrating. The pitch doesn't change with speed but it gets quieter
below about 25MPH and is inaudible below 10.
It doesn't sound like brakes dragging. There's no loss of power or driveability but it is quite loud at speed. What could it be?
road noise due to new harder bushes more vibration will be felt therefore heard
wheel bearing?
What does a wheel bearing noise sound like? Wouldn't the pitch change with speed?
I thought that I knew what a wheel bearing sounded like, but I was wrong, I got a mate who knew and we checked it out by going round and round in
circles loading first the offside and then the near side and listening. To confirm it was a simple jack up and listen to the wheel,..
Two hours, £15 for the bearing and a home made hub puller, later all was sorted and very quiet.
good luck
