Looking to sort my column out.
I currently have an escort column that i'm planning to get extended.
This is it:



And this is what i'm planning on doing:



Question is, is this ok?
The 7/8" tubing is the escort column which is hollow.
The 3/4" rod will be solid.

Is this ok to extend like this?

This method is commonly used but an IVA man would probably like to know who did your welding. Might be worth paying an expert to do this for what it costs. A common problem is distortion by heat so tig might be best method.
