Steering rack extensions..
MsD - 12/4/11 at 07:05 PM

.. After doing a search I cant come up with an answer so-

I need to buy some rack extensions however I dont know which steering rack I have in the Locost! Does it make a difference with regards to different threads on different models?

Also- can anyone reccomend a good supplier or even let me know if they have any for sale!

Much appreciated LCB'ers!

Have a careful look at the casing, I would imagine it will be a Ford, but some sort of ID will be stamped on it, but it's difficult to say on the info you have given. If it is a Ford the MK can supply then. Alternatively you could send them a track rod end to make sure it fits before they post them to you.

I got a local engineering firm to make them for me. Cost me £30 and made to measure. Must be someone near you that can do the same.

Im having a bit of trouble uploading my pics from my camera atm- Its being classed as an unsuported file, and Photobuckets down!
Its a Ford steering rack, I should have said in my original post- but for some strange reason thought that you'd know that!
Ill try later on to get some pics up!

That's an escort one, it will have clamps to hold it down.

The sierra one bolts down.

Escort Mk2, Sierra and Cortina Mk3 to Mk5 rack ends all have M14x2 threads.
M14x2 is a very coarse thread visually very easy to spot.
