
As I'm putting a Honda S2000 engine in my locost, I'm going to need to be able to put the power down. Now I know friction is independent of
surface area, but stiction isn't, so how wide should I have my rears? Equally what is a good width for the fronts?
I will end up with wilwoods, or another light 4 pot caliper up front, with, most probably, the standard sierra handbrake at the rear.
What are the lightest wheels out there? Budget is probably around £450 for new, maybe £500 if that's what it takes.
Your thoughts and suggestions please!
What size dia. wheels do you want?
For 15" wheels a lot of people go for the Team Dynamics pro race 1.2, as they are light wheels at a more sensible price.
Obviously a lightweight 13" will be lighter than a lightweight 15", but depending on the wheel, and the rear caliper setup you cant always
fit 13" wheels on the rear
215 888's up front and 275 kumho v70 on the rear and 321bhp
and still spin up in first
225 toyo r1r's on the rear with no spin.
i have same set up as you with 13" r500 wheels and 205/60/13 yoko ao48's

I thought the general consensus was that 13's gave the best handling and the most nimble feel. I'll be using ford fitment, so the r500's won't be applicable to me will they?
you also dont need the same rolling wheel and tyre circumference as a 15" wheel/tyre. the s2000 has a 4.1 diff so the 13" wheels should help
to gear it down a bit,

Yeah, I need to change the ratio in my ford diff. As far as I know there is no 4.1 option, but there is a 4.44. I'm hoping this won't make the ratios too short!
it wont do. a lot of the honda guys have 4.56 final drives
