Sierra rear calipers new seal fitment

Morning all
After some advise rebuilding a pair of sierra rear calipers today for use on my car. I have a new seal kit from bigg red and was wondering if you need to put any oil on the seals before use/fitment and if so which oil. Many thanks

Under no circumstances use oil on any rubber brake part or any surface rubber or brake fluid makes contact with, this includes WD40 which contains parrafin/gas oil type hydrocarbons.

To lubricate brake parts use Castrol Girling Red Rubber Grease ---- do an ebay search on "Red Rubber Grease"

Used brake fuild on mine (had no rubber grease) not ideal as it's horrid stuff, and you end up with some break fluid on the new painted calliper body.. But worked fine, expect getting the dust seals back on total PITA, may get some good pointers on how's best to do this, I suspect the grease would work wonders..

Worth getting a big tub , Rubber grease is ace stuff for other things -- very water proof excellent at preventing alloy wheels seizing on to hubs or track rod ends seizing on track rods much better than Coppaslip.

Good if you need to insert a fuel injector into a fuel rail and you dont want to knacker the rubber o-ring.

The other trick when re-using O rings exposed to petrol is wash them in warm soapy (ie hand soap) water and allow to dry.
